The Knox Train Comes Through Kinderhook!
The Knox Trail through Kinderhook not only highlights the Village’s Revolutionary War connections but also ties into its broader historical tapestry, including sites like the James Vanderpoel House and the hometown of President Martin Van Buren. Visitors tracing the trail today can appreciate how ordinary communities like Kinderhook contributed to extraordinary moments in the fight for independence.
The Columbia County Historical Society commemorated the 250th anniversary of Henry Knox’s Noble Train of Artillery, on January 9. This special tribute to U.S. history took place on the front lawn of the James Vanderpoel House of History, featuring reenactors from Fort Ticonderoga, live oxen, special guest speakers, and refreshments.
