All research requests must be paid in advance. This includes up to 10 copies of research material and postage for response packages. Inquiries are answered in the order in which they are received. Please be patient with us—we have a small staff and there is often a 2–3-month backlog.

Research Requests are primarily for local genealogical topics or for cultural, business topics related to Columbia County. Research is conducted for each request including those for which CCHS subsequently finds little or no information. Note: For residential and commercial structures, we are unable to provide exact dates of original construction.
