LECTURE SERIES PROGRAM

Sunday March 29, 2pm: Hudson Area Library, 51 N 5th St, Hudson

Tom Shannon, Germantown Historian will be covering highlights of the tremendously insightful diary kept by one of the publicly prominent Loyalists, William Smith, Jr. (1728-1793) from October 1776 through July 1778 when he passed the early stages of the war under self-exile, and later house arrest, at the Hermitage, formerly located on Wire Road in Livingston.

LECTURE SERIES PROGRAM

Sunday April 19, 12:30pm: Kinderhook Library, 18 Hudson St, Kinderhook

Gregg Berninger, Ghent Town Historian will take a look at two hundred and fifty years of Ghent history through the truth of what the founding father’s saw as self-evident. Like every town in the county and country, the history of Ghent has been mostly steady progress toward “all men are created equal”. From enslavement to suffrage to wealth inequality, this far-ranging talk will make you rethink the past and the present in the terms laid out in the summer of 1776.
